The departments in the modern Centre region (also known as the Loire Valley) are: Eure-et-Loir (Dept. 28), Indre-et-Loire (Dept. 37), Loir-et-Cher (Dept. 41), Loiret (Dept. 45), Indre (Dept 36) and Cher (Dept 18). The capital of the region is Orléans.
